The Chapel
A little story about our church
The Chapel of the Healing Cross, Idi-Araba, Lagos, an Interdenominational (Protestant and Ecumenical) Chapel founded in 1963, is a place for divine worship and Christian Fellowship, propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and other religious activities.
From Year Book 1997/98 (Vol. 11) pg. 153: PRAYER
REMINISCENCES
The prayer of the first Christians was simply a reflection of the LIVING CHRIST in their midst. It was prayer ‘in His Name’ and by this we mean not that a formula was added at the end of every petition, but that in all their prayer they joined themselves to the prayer of Christ Himself, and knew that it was His Spirit (and power) which prayed in them. The best worship they could offer was simply His self-oblation in them. Praying in that Spirit, the Christian prayer is immersed in the ocean of the Son’s communion with the Father.
Theme of the year
JUSTIFICATION
‘’It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed……. great is thy faithfulness’’ Lam. 3:22-23. We can all join Prophet Jeremiah in making the above triumphant, and thanksgiving declaration to God Almighty, for bringing us through the year 2022, and into another year. The year 2023 is a watershed year in the Socio-political landscape of our country, and as we have prayed and continue to pray, it shall be a year in which the glory of God shall appear to all men, as the arrogance and excesses of the oppressors are cowed.
