End of Month Newsletter For August 2026
Dear Sunday School Family,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
What an exciting and memorable month August has been! We thank God for His faithfulness and for all the ways He continues to teach, strengthen, and bless our Sunday School family. This month took us from lessons on obedience and faithfulness to a new sub-theme on the consequences of covenant default. We also had one of the highlights of our year our Annual Sunday School Camp and enjoyed a beautiful time of fellowship during Family Unity and Cultural Day.
Our August Journey
August was a month of both learning and celebration. We were reminded that God’s covenant comes with blessings, but it also calls us to obedience and faithfulness. As we began our new sub-theme, “Consequences of Covenant Default,” the children learned that disobedience has consequences and that turning away from God’s instructions can lead to the loss of His blessings.
Beyond our regular Sunday School lessons, we had an unforgettable week at our Annual Camp, where the children experienced spiritual growth, fellowship, fun, and memorable moments together.
What We Learned This Month
On Sunday, August 2nd, we held our fourth BISAPP (Bible Study and Prayer Project) of the year. Auntie Umarani taught on the topic “Obedience and the Covenants” from Isaiah 1:10–20. Our memory verse was Exodus 19:5, which reminds us that when we obey God’s voice and keep His covenant, we are His treasured possession.
The main thrust of the lesson was simple but powerful: Obedience is key. The children learned that God’s covenant relationship with us requires us to listen to His Word and obey His instructions. We were reminded that obedience is not just about hearing what God says, but putting His Word into practice.
We also had our monthly Round Table, where we discussed Love. The children explored what love means, the different ways love can be expressed, and the importance of showing genuine love to God and to others. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to share their thoughts and learn that Christian love should be reflected in both our words and our actions.
On Sunday, August 9th, we continued our sub-theme “Benefits of Covenant” with the topic “Faith.” Mrs. Eghosa Osadiaye taught from Hebrews 11:11, Habakkuk 2:4b, and Romans 10:17. Our memory verse was Hebrews 11:6: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a re-warder of those who diligently seek Him.”
The lesson reminded the children that faith is essential in our relationship with God. Faith helps us trust God’s promises even when we cannot yet see the outcome. They learned that faith sustains our covenant relationship with God and encourages us to continue trusting Him, obeying Him, and believing His Word.
On Sunday, August 16th, we began a new sub-theme under our central theme, “God of Covenant: Come and See.” Our new sub-theme is “Consequences of Covenant Default.”
Auntie Ijeoma taught on “Loss of Blessings Curses” from Leviticus 26:14–18 and Deuteronomy 28:15–20. Our memory verse was Deuteronomy 28:15, which warns about the consequences of refusing to obey God’s commands.
The main thrust of the lesson was: Disobedience brings curses. The children learned that while God is loving and faithful, covenant relationship also comes with responsibility. Disobedience and rejection of God’s instructions can have serious consequences. The lesson encouraged the children to take God’s Word seriously and choose obedience.
Annual Sunday School Camp
From August 16th to 23rd, we had our Annual Sunday School Camp, themed “Covenant of Champions.”
It was truly a wonderful and memorable week! The camp provided an opportunity for the children to grow spiritually while also enjoying fellowship and fun with one another. There were powerful impartation services, guest speakers, a day out, praise night, and many other activities that made the camp a special experience.
It was a beautiful time of learning, worship, friendship, and creating memories together. We are grateful to God for His presence throughout the camp and for everyone who contributed to making it a success.
Family Unity and Cultural Day
On Sunday, August 23rd, we joined the rest of the church family for Family Unity and Cultural Day. It was a beautiful celebration of family, unity, and the richness of our different cultures. We worshipped together as one church family in the main church, sharing in the joy and fellowship of the day.
It was a wonderful reminder that although we may come from different backgrounds and cultures, we are united in Christ as one family.
On Sunday, August 30th
We continued our study on the Consequences of Covenant Default as Auntie Oyin taught on “Banishment.” The lesson was taken from Genesis 3:1–13, 22–24, with Genesis 3:23 as the memory verse.
The children learned about Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden and the consequences that followed. Because of their disobedience, they were banished from the Garden of Eden and lost the privilege of living in the garden God had prepared for them.
The main thrust of the lesson was: Banishment is a divine punishment for covenant unfaithfulness. The children were encouraged to understand that our choices have consequences and that disobedience can separate us from the blessings and privileges God has given us. Most importantly, they were reminded of the importance of listening to God and remaining faithful to His Word.
Looking Ahead to September
As we look forward to September, we are excited to continue our study on “Consequences of Covenant Default.” We pray that the lessons ahead will help our children understand God’s Word more deeply and encourage them to make choices that honour Him.
We look forward to another month of learning, fellowship, worship, and growing together as a Sunday School family.
A Word of Encouragement
August has reminded us that our relationship with God is built on both His faithfulness and our response to Him. God loves us, keeps His promises, and desires to bless His children, but He also calls us to obedience and faithfulness.
As we continue learning about the consequences of covenant default, may we never take God’s instructions lightly. May our children grow to become young people who know God’s Word, trust His promises, obey His voice, and remain faithful to Him.
We are grateful for every teacher, parent, child, and volunteer who continues to make our Sunday School a place where children can learn, grow, worship, and experience the love of God.
May the Lord continue to guide us and make us champions who honour Him in all we do.
Stay blessed and faithful to the God of Covenant!
