"THE WORKINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: John 16:8-11(And when he comes, he will convince the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.)

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER

End of Month Newsletter – December 2025

Dear Sunday School Family,

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! What a glorious way to end 2025! December has been a month of celebration, thanksgiving, and reflection on God’s greatest gift to mankind – Jesus Christ our Lord. From our quiz revision to our spectacular Christmas concert, carol service, and ending with praise and worship, God has filled our month with joy unspeakable and full of glory!

Our December Journey

December brought us to a beautiful celebration of the reason for the season. We revised what we learned all year, celebrated the birth of Jesus through carols and concerts, gave thanks to God for His goodness, and were reminded that God is always seeking us. This month has been filled with music, worship, fellowship, and the powerful presence of God among us.

What We Learned This Month

On Sunday, December 7th, Aunty Ife led us in a special “Quiz Revision” session from Proverbs 2:6. Our memory verse was Acts 16:13. The children reviewed everything they had learned throughout the last quarter about the workings of the Holy Spirit. They remembered the manifestations of the Spirit, the fruits and gifts, and the powerful Bible stories of Cornelius, Paul, and Barnabas. It was wonderful to see how much the children had absorbed and grown in their knowledge of God’s Word. After the revision, we had our last quiz for the year! The children did wonderfully, showing that they had truly been paying attention and learning all year long. What a joy it was to see their knowledge and understanding shine through!

Sunday, December 14th was one of the most special days of the year – our Christmas Carol Service! Mrs. Kemi Awe brought us a powerful message on “The Greatest Gift Ever” from Luke 2:8-20. Our memory verse was 2 Corinthians 9:15: “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” The children learned that when the angels announced Jesus’s birth to the shepherds, they were announcing the greatest gift the world has ever received. Jesus came as a baby in a manger, but He is God’s indescribable gift of love, salvation, and eternal life. No gift we could ever receive compares to the gift of Jesus Christ. We celebrated with our Nine Lessons and Carols service, where we retold the beautiful story of Jesus’s birth through scripture readings and songs. The joy in the room was overwhelming! After all the singing and celebration, we gathered for our Christmas party – a time of fellowship, laughter, food, and fun! What a blessed day of celebration it was!

But that wasn’t all – we also had our magnificent Christmas concert titled “Christmas in the Tropics: Celebrating the Reason for the Season”! Our Sunday School Choir performed beautifully alongside the Sunbeam Choir from The Chapel of Transfiguration, LUTH, and The Choir from Church of Transfiguration, Itire. It was absolutely amazing hearing the different renditions of the carols! Each choir brought their own unique flavor and style to the beloved Christmas songs. The harmonies were beautiful, the voices were angelic, and the Spirit of God was present in every note.

On Sunday, December 21st, we had our Final Prayer and Praise Sunday of the year! We didn’t just sit and listen – we danced and prayed to the Lord with all our hearts! Our beloved Chaplain, Reverend Okey Okonkwo, ministered to us on “Thanking God for His Goodness” from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Our memory verse was Psalm 34:1: “I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.” The children learned that we should always be thankful to God – in good times and in challenging times, in every season and situation. God has been so good to us throughout 2025! He has protected us, provided for us, taught us, and blessed us beyond measure. As we looked back on the year, we counted our blessings and lifted our voices in thanksgiving. We danced with joy, we prayed with gratitude, and we praised God for His faithfulness. It was a powerful time of worship and celebration!

Sunday, December 28th closed our year in a unique and fun way – it was Movie Day! The topic was “God is Seeking You” from Psalm 53:1-6. Our memory verse was Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” The children learned a beautiful truth – that even before we look for God, He is already looking for us! God is not hiding from us; He wants to be found. He sent Jesus to seek and save the lost. The Good Shepherd goes after the one lost sheep. God desires a relationship with each one of us, and when we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him. We watched a movie that brought this message to life in a powerful way. The children were engaged, touched, and reminded that God loves them and is always reaching out to them. What a wonderful way to end the year – knowing that we are loved and sought after by the Creator of the universe!

Reflections on 2025

As we close the year, we give thanks to God for a wonderful 2025 in Sunday School! We learned about the workings of the Holy Spirit, we grew in worship, we discovered how the Spirit manifests in our lives, and we ended with celebrating the greatest gift ever given – Jesus Christ. Our children have memorized scripture, learned powerful Bible stories, participated in quizzes, performed in concerts, worshipped through carols, and grown in their faith. We are grateful to all our dedicated teachers who poured into our children week after week. We thank all the parents who faithfully brought their children to Sunday School. Most of all, we thank God for His presence, His guidance, and His faithfulness throughout the year.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we step into the new year, we are excited about what God has in store for us! We will continue to grow in our knowledge of God’s Word, deepen our relationship with Jesus, and learn to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. We encourage every family to start the new year with a fresh commitment to faithfulness in Sunday School. Let us make 2026 a year of spiritual growth, deeper worship, and stronger faith. God has great things planned for The Chapel of The Healing Cross Sunday School!

A Word of Encouragement

Dear parents, teachers, and children, as we close this year and look forward to the next, remember the lessons we learned in December. Jesus is God’s greatest gift to us – let us treasure Him above all else. Let us be people who give thanks to God at all times, in all circumstances. And let us remember that God is always seeking us, drawing us closer to Himself. When we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him. May 2026 be a year where we walk closer with God, serve Him more faithfully, and shine brighter for His glory.

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you all! May God’s grace, peace, and joy overflow in your lives and in your homes!

Stay blessed and see you in 2026!
