"THE WORKINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: John 16:8-11(And when he comes, he will convince the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.)

THE CHAPEL OF THE HEALING CROSS SUNDAY SCHOOL

End of Month Newsletter – September 2026

Dear Sunday School Family,

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

September was another beautiful month in our Sunday School family. We thank God for His faithfulness and for the lessons, prayers, fellowship, and celebrations we shared together. This month, we continued learning about the consequences of covenant default, while also being reminded of God’s help, the power of prayer and praise, and our responsibility to serve Him. We also had a wonderful time celebrating our Children & Young People’s Harvest.

OUR SEPTEMBER JOURNEY

September was filled with meaningful lessons and opportunities to grow in our faith. From learning about the ministry of angels to understanding the restorative power of prayer and praise, each Sunday gave us something to reflect on and apply to our lives.

We also had our Quiz Review, which gave the children an opportunity to revisit some of the lessons they had learnt and prepare themselves for the Second Quarter Quiz. We rounded off the month with our Children & Young People’s Harvest, a joyful celebration centred on serving the Lord.

WHAT WE LEARNED THIS MONTH

Sunday, 6th September – The Angelic Ministry

We began the month with a lesson on “The Angelic Ministry,” taught by Aunty Chika. The lesson was taken from Acts 12:1–8, where we saw how God sent an angel to deliver Peter from prison.

The lesson reminded us that angels are ministering spirits sent by God to serve His purposes and assist His children. Our memory verse was Hebrews 1:14, which speaks about angels as ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.

Sunday, 13th September – Prayer and Praise Sunday

Our Prayer and Praise Sunday was led by Mrs Chika Nelson Cole, who taught on “The Restorative Power of Prayer and Praise.” The lesson was based on 1 Samuel 2:1–10.

We were reminded that prayer and praise are powerful ways through which we connect with God, especially in difficult seasons. Hannah’s story showed us how God can turn situations around and restore hope, joy, and strength. It was a beautiful reminder to always seek God in prayer and to praise Him regardless of our circumstances.

Sunday, 20th September – Quiz Review

On the 20th of September, Aunty Chinwe led the children through a Quiz Review. The session was based on Psalm 32:8 and focused on revisiting the lessons we had learnt throughout the quarter.

The review gave the children an opportunity to refresh their understanding, ask questions, and prepare for the upcoming quiz. Our memory verse was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Sunday, 27th September – Children & Young People’s Harvest

We ended the month on a joyful note with our Children & Young People’s Harvest. The theme for the celebration was “As for Me and My House, We Shall Serve the Lord.”

The service was a wonderful time of worship, thanksgiving, and celebration. We were blessed by a message from Prof. A.I. Aliyegbus, who encouraged us to make the decision to serve the Lord and to ensure that our homes are centred around God.

The Cherub Choir gave a beautiful performance, and the children also presented a special presentation on serving the Lord. Through their presentation, they reminded us of the different ways we can serve God and why it is important for us to willingly give ourselves to His service.

It was truly an amazing time for the children, young people, teachers, parents, and the entire church family. We thank God for the opportunity to celebrate His faithfulness and to encourage the next generation to live lives dedicated to Him.

LOOKING AHEAD TO OCTOBER

As we step into a new month, we look forward to more opportunities to learn, grow, fellowship, and serve God together. We pray that the lessons we have received will continue to bear fruit in the lives of our children and young people.

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT

September reminded us that God is always at work. He sends help when we need it, restores us through prayer and praise, teaches us through His Word, and calls us to serve Him faithfully.

As we continue our journey as a Sunday School family, may we never forget the importance of prayer, praise, faith, and service. May our children grow to know God, love Him, and willingly serve Him.

May we continue to be a generation that can boldly say:

“As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.”

Stay blessed, and may God continue to strengthen our Sunday School family!
