End of Month Newsletter – May 2026
Dear Sunday School Family,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ! We thank God for another wonderful month filled with learning, worship, fellowship, and celebration. Throughout May, we continued to grow in our understanding of God’s covenant with His people, while also enjoying special activities that strengthened our faith and unity as a Sunday School family. From our first BISAPP and Round Table session of the year to our joyous Children’s Day celebration, May was truly a month to remember.
Our May Journey
This month marked the beginning of several exciting Sunday School activities for the year. We explored important lessons on covenant living, gratitude, forgiveness, empowerment, and divine guidance. Through Bible study, prayer, praise, discussion, and celebration, our children learned practical ways to walk faithfully with God and enjoy the many benefits of His covenant promises.
What We Learned This Month
On Sunday, May 3rd, we held our first BISAPP (Bible Study and Prayer Project) of the year. Aunty Umarani Opusunju taught on the topic “Circumcision: The Purpose” from Genesis 17:1–14. Our memory verse was 1 Corinthians 7:19, which reminds us that obedience to God is more important than outward rituals. The children learned that circumcision was a sign of God’s covenant with Abraham and his descendants. More importantly, they discovered that God desires hearts that are committed to Him and lives that reflect obedience to His Word.
We also held our first Round Table discussion of the year titled “Gratitude.” Using Matthew 25:31–46 as our text and 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 as our memory verse, the children discussed the importance of being thankful in every circumstance. They learned that gratitude is not only expressed through words but also through our actions toward others. The session encouraged everyone to develop a lifestyle of thanksgiving and appreciation to God and to people around them.
On Sunday, May 10th, we had our second Prayer and Praise service for the year. Miss Titi Saani ministered on the topic “Called to Be a Covenant Keeper” from Proverbs 3:1–35. Our memory verse was Proverbs 3:1. The children learned that God expects His people to remain faithful to His commandments and to keep their covenant relationship with Him. They were encouraged to trust in God’s wisdom, obey His instructions, and remain steadfast in their walk with Him.
On Sunday, May 24th, we began a new sub-theme, “Benefits of Covenant,” under our central theme, “God of Covenant.” Aunty Amaka taught on the topic “Forgiveness and God’s Empowerment” using Joshua 1:8–9, Jeremiah 31:34, and Hebrews 8:12. The memory verse for the day was Isaiah 1:18. The children learned that one of the greatest benefits of God’s covenant is the forgiveness of sins through His mercy and grace. They also discovered that God empowers His children to live courageously, overcome challenges, and fulfill His purpose for their lives.
On May 27th, we joyfully celebrated Children’s Day. It was a wonderful occasion filled with excitement, laughter, fellowship, and thanksgiving. The children participated in various activities and enjoyed a memorable time together. The celebration reminded us that children are precious gifts from God and an important part of His kingdom. We thank God for every child in our Sunday School and pray that they continue to grow in wisdom, favor, and the knowledge of Christ.
On Sunday, May 31st, we continued our study on the Benefits of Covenant. Aunty Ngozi taught on the topic “Guidance and Direction” from Psalm 32:8, Isaiah 30:21, and Jeremiah 29:11. Our memory verse was Psalm 32:8. The children learned that God faithfully guides His children when they trust and obey Him. Through His Word and the Holy Spirit, God directs our paths and helps us make wise decisions. They were encouraged to seek God’s guidance in all they do and trust Him to lead them on the right path.
Looking Ahead to June
We are excited about the wonderful activities planned for June. We look forward to our Second Quarter Quiz, which will provide an opportunity for the children to demonstrate what they have learned throughout the quarter. We are also eagerly anticipating the 59th Anniversary of our Sunday School, a significant milestone that celebrates God’s faithfulness through the years. It promises to be a season of thanksgiving, learning, fellowship, and joyful celebration.
A Word of Encouragement
As we reflect on the lessons of May, we are reminded that God’s covenant brings many blessings into our lives. Through His covenant, we receive forgiveness, guidance, strength, wisdom, and the assurance of His presence. As children, parents, and teachers, may we continue to walk faithfully with God, trust His promises, and live lives that honor Him.
May the Lord continue to bless our Sunday School family and help us grow in faith, knowledge, and love for Him.
Stay blessed and covenant-conscious!
